“Job explorer day” at sigma3D!

Last month was “job explorer day” in NRW!

On this occasion, one of the sigma3D employees showed his son part of his daily work.

All students from his sons school had a day off to give them the possibility to explore a job and make some experience in the working world. During the day, one part of this experience was to digitize a traditional Portuguese rooster figure (Rooster of Barcelos) and transform it into a 3D model to 3D print it afterwards. To achieve this, his father gave his son an introduction to the FaroArm with an attached 3D scanner.

After that, he nearly scanned the figure all by himself. The result of the scan was a polygonal model. After the scanning, they used a CAD program to construct an extra-base to the model to give the rooster a more solid stand. Finally, the CAD file was converted into a printable 3D file.

Father and son had an engaging, educational day and a lot of fun! And as a memory, the rooster was already sent to a 3D printing service.

We are happy to have inspired a new generation for our work!
